# Contamos

> Contamos is a shared ledger for people who share money: couples, flatmates, families, side projects or any group with a common pot. It keeps accounts, cards and cash across multiple currencies, fiat and crypto alike, and shows balances per currency without blending everything into one converted number.

A ledger logs income and expense transactions with tags, and every transaction stores the exchange rate of the day it happened. The free plan needs no card; Pro removes the free plan's account, member and transaction limits.

On every plan, AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT can connect to a ledger through a remote MCP server at https://contamos.xyz/mcp, signing in as the user, within the limits of each team's plan. They can read balances and reports, record and edit movements, and import a bank statement the user hands them after a dry run the user reviews. Assistants cannot change notification preferences: those are managed per person and per team in the app, under team settings, Notifications, so an assistant should send the user there.
