# Plans and limits

Every team is on one of two plans. The Free plan is a complete ledger for as long as you like, with no card. Pro removes the Free plan's limits and adds the planning and team features. A plan belongs to a team, not to a person, so each team you belong to has its own. For what Pro costs today, see [pricing](https://contamos.xyz/en#pricing).

## How the limits work

- **Accounts.** Only active accounts count. Deactivating an account frees a place, and reactivating one needs a free place.
- **Members.** Once a Free team has 2 members, no more can be invited until it moves to Pro.
- **Free teams.** A person can belong to one team on the Free plan, whether they created it or joined it. Creating another team needs one of them on Pro; accepting an invitation is never blocked by this limit.
- **History.** The transactions list, the export, the dashboard and the monthly report show the last 6 months. Older transactions are never removed and still count in every balance; Pro shows them again.

Reaching a limit never stops you from recording money. When an action needs Pro, Contamos says so and offers the upgrade instead.

## Going back to Free

Moving a team from Pro back to Free deletes nothing:

- Accounts and members over the Free limits stay; the team just cannot add more.
- Budgets are kept but hidden, and come back as they were on Pro.
- Recurring rules are kept but stop recording, and the dates missed in the meantime are skipped.
- Everyone except the owner acts as an Admin, and their roles come back on Pro.
- The activity log keeps recording, and shows again on Pro.

## Upgrading to Pro

Any member can see what Pro includes from **Upgrade to Pro**, wherever a Pro feature or a limit appears. Only the team's owner can subscribe: from **Billing** in the sidebar, the owner picks a monthly or yearly cycle and pays through Paddle, which handles the payment and the invoice.

From **Billing** the owner can also manage the subscription, update the payment method and download invoices. Cancelling keeps Pro until the end of the period already paid for. See the [refund policy](https://contamos.xyz/en/refunds) for how refunds work.
