# Members and roles

A team is shared by its members. Every member sees everything recorded in the team, and who recorded it, and every member can record transactions, transfers, accounts, tags, budgets and recurring rules. Roles only decide who manages the team and its people.

## Inviting people

Open **Members**, then **Invitations**, and choose **Invite member**. Enter the person's email and choose **Send invitation**. They get an email with a link that expires after 7 days.

- To accept, they sign in with the same email the invitation was sent to and choose **Accept invitation**. They join the team and land on its dashboard.
- **Resend** sends a fresh link with a new 7-day expiry, at most once an hour.
- **Cancel invitation** withdraws an invitation that has not been accepted.

On Pro you choose the role the person joins with. On the Free plan everyone joins as an Admin.

- **Owner** is whoever created the team. A team has exactly one owner, and the role cannot be given to anyone else.
- **Admin** manages the team and its people.
- **Member** records in the ledger and can invite people.

## Roles on the Free plan

Choosing roles is part of [Pro](https://contamos.xyz/en#pricing). On the Free plan the owner stays the owner and everyone else acts as an Admin. The role each person was given is kept, and applies again when the team moves to Pro.

To change someone's role on Pro, open their menu on the **Members** page and choose **Change role**. Nobody can change the owner's role or their own.

## Removing a member and leaving

Owners and admins can remove any member except the owner: choose **Remove** from the member's menu. Any member other than the owner can leave with **Leave team**.

Removing a member, or leaving, ends that person's access. It does not erase what they recorded, because the members who stay need those entries to read their own ledger.

## Deleting a team

Only the owner can delete a team, from **Configuration** under **Danger**, by typing the team's handle to confirm. Everything recorded in the team is deleted with it, at once and for good. If the team is on Pro, its subscription is cancelled immediately and the rest of the period is not refunded.

## Limits

On the Free plan a team can have up to 2 members, counting the owner. Pro has no limit. See [Plans and limits](https://contamos.xyz/en/docs/plans-and-limits).
